Overbearing: From NPNR, I’m David Overbearing.

The U.S. House of Representatives is scheduled for a recess beginning July 31st. With health care legislation currently being debated in the House, we asked Congressman Marty Black of Idaho if he thinks the House should stay in session and delay their recess.

Black: Uh, no, I don’t think there’s any reason to stay in session. This is a big bill, and important bill, and I think we need time to consider all the aspects of the bill. Plus, if I don’t use these Marriott Points soon, they’ll expire.

Oh, excuse me. I’m getting a phone call. Hello? Yes. All right. Certainly. Very good. Thank you.

  1. I couldn’t be more jealous Mr. Overbearing. Here I’m an actual health care provider in real life, and I can’t even get Blue Cross/Blue Shield to so much as talk to me, let alone acknowledge the claims I send to them, or pay their bills, without having to spend every second of the day chasing them down while getting put on hold and eventually cut off in mid apoplexy.

I’m so desperate to talk to them that I’d appreciate it if you would have Senator Black drop my name to them the next time they call. If I can’t get a claim paid, at least getting regular talking points from them would feel better than being treated like so much chopped liver.
